Musicians for a Smokefree TN is a coalition of musicians, songwriters, venues, and public health organizations that have come together with the goal of creating smokefree workplaces for all Tennessee musicians and hospitality workers. Over the last two years, our coalition shined a new spotlight on this problem, and successfully changed state law, giving municipalities across TN the ability to pass common sense smokefree ordinances in 21+ establishments.

Smokefree Knoxville is a partnership with Metro Drug Coalition, bringing together Knoxville based public health organizations, hospitality workers, musicians, and venues to create smokefree workplaces for all Knoxvillians. Following the passage of SB2219 by Knoxville’s own Senator Richard Briggs and Representative Michele Carringer, Knoxville now has the ability to introduce it’s own smokefree ordinance, and we are excited to support that movement!

Musicians for a Smokefree Nashville is where this journey began! Formed in 2020, our coalition of Nashville songwriters, artists, businesses, and public health organizations came together in hopes of creating smokefree workplaces for all Nashville musicians and hospitality workers. Nearly two years later, the Nashville City Council voted overwhelmingly to do just that, and on March 1st 2023, 50+ establishments went smokefree, protecting the health of countless workers in Music City. Now known simply as Smokefree Nashville, we serve as a resource and landing page for all things related to the new smokefree ordinance.

Our SOS campaign is a collaboration between Smokefree TN and TNSTRONG, Tennessee’s nicotiny prevention youth ambassador program. This campaig shines spotlight on the resurgence of smoking/vaping on our screens and big tobacco’s continued work to influence us through entertainment.

Smokefee 901 is a grassroots coalition collaborating with Smokefree TN, based in the Memphis area led by members of the faith, music, and public health communities. Its first goal is to create smokefree indoor workplaces for all residents of Shelby County.
